Gullwing America 300 SLC

Gullwing America have been manufacturing the retro-modern 300 SL Panamerica for around four years now. Their recipe involves making a  custom chassis, fitting a brand new Mercedes-Benz drivetrain into it, and then placing a lightly customised 300 SL reproduction body on top. However for one Eastern European client that simply wasn’t good enough. So he’s managed to get the company to build him his very own, one-off creation called the 300 SLC.
The Gullwing America 300 SLC is based on a 2012 SLS AMG Roadster, and its running gear and interior required only minor changes. However what did require major changes is the bodywork. Gullwing America have fabricated a handmade aluminium body for the vehicle based on the design of the 1955 Mercedes-Benz 300 SC (W-188) – of which only 92 were made.

“We tried to keep the original lines of this model, which are timeless,” says Arturo Alonso, head of Gullwing America (GWA). However, making it truly unique required some changes. This included changing the position of the pop-out rear spoiler and modernizing the headlights with LED’s. The grille was heavily redesigned and features an illuminated emblem on the top.
The car also has custom made, 22 x 12 rear and 21 x 9.5 front, GWA Evolution wheels wrapped in Continental rubber. A special exhaust system and adjustable height suspension finish off the enhancements.
