2014 Lamborghini Egoista

We all probably thought that Lamborghini could never outdo themselves in the wild and crazy department after they unveiled the Veneno earlier in 2013, but with this all new Egoista concept car they have reached a level of whacko that is easily on par with the Batmobile. Lamborghini unveiled the Egoista, which is loosely based on the Gallardo, to a gawking crowd of 700 people during their week-long 50th anniversary celebrations in Italy. From every angle the car, if it can even be called that, really does look like nothing before seen in the motoring world. Perhaps famed designer Walter De Silva, whose team oversaw the development, put it best when he said that the Egoista "represents hedonism taken to the extreme".Â
It's a machine that really only Lamborghini could pull off, and one that doesn't have a single part on it that could be described as "ordinary" or "predictable". Supposedly it draws some inspiration from the AH-64 Apache attack helicopter, and it's easy to see elements of aviation throughout. The driver would have to leave his trophy wife at home because the cockpit, made of carbon fiber and aluminum, only seats one and it's a tight fit at that. It is also removable, and opens via that sinister looking orange anti-glare glass canopy. The removable steering wheel also looks like it would be more at home on a space-themed arcade game than a car, as does the digital head-up display. The exterior styling of the car, meanwhile, borrows the razor sharp creases and lines of the earlier Veneno and then takes them to the next level, making it look like it really is about to take off, especially with those two orange-rimmed thrusters at the back that are passing as exhaust pipes. Taking road car regulations only a little bit seriously, the Egoista has a creative array of lighting for traffic, including LED clearance lights, a red light that flashes on the top of the tail, two orange side markers, and a pair on the roof (green on the right, red on the left).http://yesauto.blogspot.com/
Powering the Egoista is the 5.2 liter V-10 that makes just shy of 600 horsepower, and with extensive use of carbon fiber and that open rear end the car should weigh in at around 2,200 pounds. And if the Veneno wasn't exclusive enough for you, then the Egoista will be impossible to top because Lamborghini certainly has no plans to put such a ridiculous car into production. It is just yet another of their interesting design projects, and thankfully they have Audi money behind them to be able to pull off such wild publicity stunts. The Egoista is still not much more than a thoroughly reworked Gallardo, but hopefully some of its thought-provoking technology will soon make it into some Lamborghini products that people can actually buy. For now, though, everyone will just have to enjoy the eye candy that is the Egoista.
