With 662hp, superb handling and a 0-60 time below 4.0 seconds, the 2014 Ford Shelby GT500 is one of the world's greatest muscle cars. And though every Shelby is special, Lot #3002 is far more than a just a standard Ford Shelby GT500 convertible, it is the last retail 2014MY "drop top" to roll off of the assembly line. That made the car sell for 500.000 USD.
The winning bidder can choose any interior, exterior and stripe color available for their new Shelby, making this a one-off factory custom car. The Shelby will be an incredible piece of history from the golden era of American performance.
While the thrill of owning such a rare, important car is appealing, the owner of this convertible will help further critical research in treating serious brain trauma. All of the proceeds from the sale of this one-off car will be donated by Ford Motor Company to the Brain Injury Association of America (BIAA), the country's oldest and largest nationwide brain injury advocacy organization.
BIAA's mission is to advance brain injury prevention, research, treatment and education and to improve the quality of life for all individuals impacted by brain injury. One of the strongest proponents of the BIAA is Page Jones, son of legendary Indy 500 Winner Parnelli Jones.
Page, a rising racing star, suffered a severe brain injury during a Sprint Car race. His prognosis was grim yet with the support of his family, he recreated a fulfilling, productive and joyous life. Page and Parnelli work with BIAA to tell this story and raise money for research into overcoming Traumatic Brain Injury.
The winning bidder is scheduled to receive this Shelby by the end of 2013, when production of the current model year ends. Parnelli will sign the car in appreciation for the donation to BIAA
