2014 Bentley Continental GT V8 S

The appeal of the world’s most stylish, luxury grand tourer is enhanced with the introduction of the new, sporting Continental GT V8 S. Available as both a coupe and convertible, the new GT V8 S models bring added excitement to the Continental range with lowered and retuned sports suspension, sharper steering, dramatic ‘S’ signature styling cues and a distinctive soundtrack from the uprated V8 engine.

These two new models expand the Continental family and provide an even more engaging driving experience from Bentley’s already renowned 4-litre twin-turbo V8 powertrain. The new Continental GT V8 S Coupe and Convertible will be unveiled at the Frankfurt Show on 10th September, 2013.

Commenting on the introduction of the two new S models, Dr Wolfgang Schreiber, Chairman and Chief Executive, Bentley Motors, said:

“The Bentley Continental is the definitive grand tourer. Its effortless performance, generous space, handcrafted luxury and all-wheel drive capability take you on a journey in refined style and comfort. Now, for those customers who want even more drama and excitement, the sharper, sporting edge of the new GT V8 S adds a new dimension to the Continental range.”
More power, more performance, and a range of 500 miles on a single tank

Building on the success of the acclaimed Continental GT V8, the new GT V8 S models feature a more powerful version of Bentley’s high-efficiency 4-litre, twin-turbo V8 engine developing 521 bhp (528 PS / 389 KW) at 6,000 rev/min and an immense peak torque of 680 Nm (502 lb.ft) at a mere 1,700 rev/min.

Delivered via a close-ratio ZF 8-speed automatic transmission, the increased power provides effortless, exhilarating high performance with breath-taking acceleration and imperceptibly smooth power delivery. Switch into S mode via the gear selector and the V8 S rewards the spirited driver with a sharpened throttle response while gears are held for longer with faster shifts.

The GT V8 S coupe dispatches the 0-60 mph sprint in just 4.3 seconds (0-100 km/h in 4.5s) onto a top speed of 192 mph (309 km/h). The performance of the GT V8 S convertible is equally impressive, reaching 60 mph from a standing start in 4.5 seconds (0-100km/h in 4.7s) and a top speed of 191mph (308km/h).

The increased performance is achieved without detriment to the V8 engine’s class-leading fuel economy and CO2 emissions, or its ability to cover more than 500 miles (805 km) between fill-ups.

The new GT V8 S coupe returns a combined cycle fuel economy of 26.8 mpg (10.6 l/100km) and CO2 emissions of 246 g/km. The equivalent figures for the convertible are 25.9 mpg (10.9 l/100km) and 254 g/km.

This impressive combination of power, performance and economy is the result of an array of advanced technologies employed in the design of the Bentley V8 engine. Variable displacement, in which four of the eight cylinders shut down when cruising, reduces fuel consumption without any loss of refinement. When more power is required, the engine switches back automatically and seamlessly to the full eight cylinders.
The high-technology V8 engine also features high pressure direct injection, low friction bearings, advanced thermal management, energy recuperation via the electrical charging system and innovative turbocharger packaging for greater efficiency.

The V8 engine’s variable displacement system presented a unique challenge for Bentley exhaust engineers. When cruising on a light throttle in 4-cylinder mode, the exhaust system is tuned for refinement while maintaining a distinctive V8 sound. However, under acceleration the character of the system changes dramatically as the twin turbo-charged Bentley V8 transforms into an emotive growl.
A more agile, responsive and involving driving experience

The power and performance of the GT V8 S models are complemented by a range of chassis enhancements which deliver greater agility and a more involving driving experience without compromising the Continental’s legendary ride comfort.

The GT V8 S retains the aluminium double-wishbone front and trapezoidal multi-link rear self-levelling air suspension with continuous damping control that is common to all Continental models. For the GT V8 S, there is a more sporting setup with subtly different tunes for Coupe and Convertible. Lowered sports suspension (by 10 mm) is complemented by increased spring rates (45% front, 33% rear) and revised damping for a more engaging and responsive drive. Bush stiffnesses are increased by up to 70%, while the rear anti-roll bar is stiffened by 54% over the standard GT V8 models for improved body control and turn-in. A recalibrated steering system completes the new chassis system, offering both improved precision and feedback through changes to static toe and camber and new software.

Careful recalibration of the Continuous Damping Control (CDC) system ensures minimal degradation in ride comfort despite the gains in handling performance.
The Electronic Stability Control is also optimised for the GT V8 S. The retuned system allows increased wheel slip at higher speeds with engine torque reinstated more quickly after a system intervention. This provides the spirited driver more opportunity to exploit the full potential of the uprated chassis and increased power.

The Lower Body Styling Specification - front splitter, side sills and rear diffuser - benefit aerodynamics by reducing front-end lift and provide greater stability at higher road speeds.

Shared with all Continental models, the all-wheel drive system employs an advanced Torsen differential and a 40:60 rear-biased power split. This ensures the delivery of safe yet dynamic handling in all road conditions.
Distinctive sporting design cues

While the elegant coachwork of the Continental GT is inspired by iconic Bentleys of the past, its modern, sculpted design, with crisp, highly defined feature lines, is formed using advanced body construction techniques, achieving class-leading standards of quality and body integrity.

For the new ‘S models, the design of the Continental takes a more dramatic direction and its enhanced road presence is clear before a wheel is turned. The lowered suspension provides a more sleek and purposeful stance, complemented by unique, lower-body styling including a sharp front splitter, discrete side sills and subtle rear diffuser finished in Beluga gloss. The black gloss radiator grille with single chrome divider bar and ‘figure of eight’ exhaust tail pipes instantly signify the powerful V8 engine.

The signature 20-inch wheels are unique to the ‘S’ models with an open-spoke design that reveals distinctive, red-painted brake calipers. Subtle ‘V8 S’ badges are applied to each front fender, and as with the other members of the Continental V8 family, the famous Bentley Wings badges feature a red centre.

In common with the Continental GT W12, the GT V8 S models are available in the full palette of 17 paint colours, of which seven vibrant hues are specifically recommended by Bentley Design to match the sporting character of the new model. Of these, two shades (Kingfisher Blue and the new Monaco Yellow) are signature colours for the GT V8 S.
Hand-crafted contemporary luxury

The cabin of the Continental GT is renowned for its supreme luxury with soft-touch leathers, wood veneers, polished metals and deep-pile carpeting, hand-crafted in Bentley’s unrivalled workshops at the factory in Crewe, England.

The cabin of the ‘S’ models presents a thoroughly modern interpretation of Bentley luxury in which colour and tone offer further appeal to the senses.

Available with a range of striking duo-tone interiors, customers may also select from the full range of seventeen hide colours. The GT V8 S coupe also features a unique contrast centre-stripe for the hide-trimmed roof lining, matched to the colour of the main hide. Contrast stitching throughout, including to the steering wheel, is also available as an option.

Knurled chrome detailing to the gearshift lever and ventilation controls provide a perfect contrast to the Piano Black veneers which are sanded and lacquered up to 18 times to produce a truly flawless finish. Discreet ‘V8 S’ badges are displayed on each sill tread plate.

As with all Continental models, the ‘S’ models include advanced infotainment technology as standard, including an 8-inch touchscreen which displays the car’s navigation, audio and telephone systems as well as the ride and comfort settings for the air suspension, all complemented by a 30GB on-board hard drive.
Tailoring the specification

Customers may tailor the specification of the GT V8 S by selecting from a range of optional equipment.

The sports exhaust option features redesigned silencers, revised pipe architecture and re-tuned mountings which result in a free-breathing system that delivers a full-blooded V8 sound track.

The optional Mulliner Driving Specification features 21-inch 7-spoke Black Edition wheels, drilled alloy foot pedals, a ‘jewel’ filler cap and a cabin trimmed in diamond-quilted, perforated leather with indented headlining. Other key options include Mulliner dark - tint front and rear lights and Beluga gloss door mirrors to match the Lower Body Styling Specification.

Deliveries of the new Continental V8 S start in early 2014.

2003 Bentley Speed 8

It is no exaggeration to describe the 2003 Bentley Speed 8 as a new car. Though the previous two generations of Speed 8 performed spectacularly well, returning Bentley to the Le Mans podium in 2003, it was felt that for the final year of the three-year programme, a fresh approach was required.

Clearly the car still features enclosed bodywork meaning it remained in a class of its own and the engine retained its basic architecture, 4-litre capacity, direct fuel injection and twin turbochargers. In all other significant respects it was a new design from the ground up.

The concept driving the design was to ensure much better exploitation of the airflow over the body and particularly to the rear wing. To achieve this, the external cockpit area was much reduced, though the car is actually more spacious inside, making a smaller hole in the air and allowing the car to use a much smaller, more aerodynamic engine cover.

In addition, the air-intake that had sat on top of the car in previous generation Speed 8s was deleted in favour of snorkel-type intakes on the sides of the car. This not only further increased the efficiency of the air-flow over the car, it also lowered the height of the car, lending it a much more sleek, aggressive appearance. Early testing results indicated that not only did the 2003 Speed 8 have a more favorable downforce to drag ratio than its predecessor, it also offered much more consistent aerodynamic performance in all conditions making the car both quicker and easier to drive. Underneath the new skin the 4-litre engine was re-engineered around the new regulations for 2003 that dictated a 10 per cent reduction in engine restrictor size across all classes competing at Le Mans. It was necessary to redesign many internal engine components as well as evolve a new electronics strategy for the engine to minimise the shortfall in power that the new regulations brought to all competing teams.

The suspension was entirely redesigned as well, partly to improve further its behavior, but also so it can be adapted to suit its new Michelin tires. All the geometry was changed, even the mounting points of the rear suspension on the gearbox.

That alone necessitated a new gearbox casing for the Speed 8. As in previous generations of Speed 8, the internals were supplied by Xtrac.

The 2003 Bentley Speed 8 won the 2003 24 Hours of Le Mans in dominating fashion, beating the previous champion Audi. Guy Smith drove the number 7 Bentley Speed 8 across the line, and David Brabham followed up in 2nd place in the sister number 8 car. This gave Bentley their first victory at Le Mans in 73 years, and their 6th victory overall.

2012 Bentley Continental GTC

Bentley's updated Continental GTC with a W12 Twin Turbo engine putting out 567HP and a top speed of 195 MPH.
Press Release:
The second generation of Bentley’s iconic Continental GTC convertible will debut at next month’s International Automobile Exhibition (IAA) in Frankfurt.

Taking cues from its GT coupe sibling launched last year, the new Continental GTC builds on the highly successful foundation of the previous cabriolet, which premiered in 2006. Bentley’s design and engineering teams have improved virtually every aspect of the iconic convertible with an uncompromising focus on quality.

While the first Continental GTC was elegant and understated, the sharper radii and assertive stance of the new model delivers a more contemporary and muscular presence. Advanced manufacturing techniques produce aluminium front wings without the need for seams or welds creating the look and feel of a coach-built car. Twenty-inch wheels are now standard with three styles of 21-inch wheel, a first for GTC, available as an option, reinforcing the distinctive, sporting stance of the new Bentley.

The four-seater luxury convertible features a new, even more spacious and sumptuous hand-crafted cabin, with soft-touch leather hides, an extensive range of wood veneers, cool-touch metals and deep-pile carpets. There are 17 standard soft-touch leather hide colours with six colour split combinations, complemented by a range of seven veneers, all produced by Bentley’s talented craftsmen and women.

The GTC’s renowned coupe-like refinement is also enhanced. The tailored, multi-layered fabric hood is complemented by acoustic glass and under-body panels, for optimum noise isolation.

Superb everyday practicality for a luxury convertible was a hallmark of the original GTC and much valued by its customers. The cabin of the new GTC is now even more practical, with additional rear legroom, new storage solutions and innovative features such as touch-screen infotainment, automatic seat-belt presenters and a Bentley-designed Neck Warmer for comfortable roof-down motoring whatever the temperature.

A wider track, front and rear, sharper steering and retuned suspension provides a more exhilarating and class-leading drive. Bentley’s advanced all-wheel drive system features a new 40:60 rear torque bias (compared with 50:50 of the original GTC) minimising understeer during hard cornering and allowing the spirited driver to manage the car’s line and balance via precise throttle control.

This compelling dynamic package is combined with a more powerful 6.0-litre, twin-turbocharged W12 engine as well as a new QuickShift transmission enabling faster gear changes than ever before. Power output is raised from 560PS to 575PS (567bhp/423kW) and the famed Bentley ‘wave of torque’ has been increased by a further 50Nm to 700Nm (516lb ft).

2013 Mansory Bentley Continental GT Sanguis

MANSORY Design & Holding GmbH, the renowned specialist for the modification of super-sports cars and luxury bodies, is presenting its expressive customisation of the latest Bentley Continental GT at the 83rd Geneva Motor Show. The car's series model is already one of the most exclusive that money can buy. But MANSORY's deluxe manufactory has taken this a step further and created a top-level customisation of the second generation of the British Gran-Turismo.
With the Bentley Continental GT, as with all previous vehicles, SANGUIS has placed great emphasis on perfectly tailored parts while maintaining a sporty, individual design. Matched to one another exactly, the details make this wide-body model a genuine eye-catcher. A newly designed front apron, with proprietary daytime driving lights and an extra-light carbon-fibre bonnet, give the SANGUIS a significantly heftier look. The carbon-fibre front wings and rear widening components considerably reinforce this impression. In combination with the newly designed side sill sets, they widen the Coupé by 50 millimetres at the front axle and 60 millimetres at the rear axle. The new rear apron delivers additional downthrust and creates space for the exhaust pipes of the thunderous exhaust system.
Besides excellent sound, the MANSORY technicians also place special emphasis on rich performance improvements. The combination of a sports exhaust system, sports air filter and optimised engine performance graph boosts the power to 672 PS / 494 kW at 6,000 rpm. The torque is also raised to a strapping 780 Nm at 1,700 rpm. The modified 12-cylinder reduces the time to go from zero to 100 km/h to just 4.5 seconds and increases the top speed to 322 km/h.
For the increased demands of the performance-enhanced Bentley, MANSORY offers a special wheel-tyre combination in an exclusive design. The one-part 10 x 22 wheel with 10 double spokes impresses both through its exclusive look and through its outstanding build quality. The reduction of the unsprung masses thanks to the ultra light forged wheels improves both braking distance and acceleration and handling. For optimum grip, MANSORY recommends Vredestein Ultrac Vorti tyres of the size 295/25/22.
MANSORY achieves the perfect symbiosis of sports functionality and luxurious ambience. The finest materials are used in the interior, giving occupants a feeling of comfort. The leather is treated by master craftsmen and is both especially hardwearing and extraordinarily soft. The characteristic natural product, with its special grain and perfectly crafted stitching, gives a feeling of extravagance to the newly designed airbag sports steering wheel. The aluminium pedals, the door entry sills and the Makassar ebony wood elements complete the luxury feel of the SANGUIS.
MANSORY Design & Holding GmbH offers only its in-house developed tuning accessories. The company does not offer its own make as "complete" vehicle, neither does the company deal with such type of vehicles.

Touring Superleggera Flying Star

The Bentley Continental GT, in all its varieties, is an accomplished Grand Touring sports cars which can waft its occupants over massive distances in handmade luxury. One area it doesn't excel is interior space. Sure it's got more room than any Ferrari, but its cargo area is tiny compared to the likes of the BMW M5 Touring.

Italian company Touring Superleggera has decided to correct this by offering a conversion program which takes the Bentley Continental GTC or GTC Speed and transforms it into a shooting brake - that's a fancy way of saying estate car. The GTC version offers 560 hp and 650 Nm of torque. While the GTC Speed based Touring Superleggera Flying Star is motivated by a 610 hp engine which summons up 750 Nm of torque.

In developing the car, the project went through 1:4 and 1:1 modeling, based on the CAD and CATIA data from the basic vehicle. This digital basis resulted in a milled 1:1 master model and a number of 1:1 molds for the manufacturing of the new external skin, and for important new body components. The rear bodywork was reinforced with an integrated structure between the rear suspension domes, functioning both as roll bar, and as support for the new, extended roofline.

The designers at Touring Superleggera have done a great job at keeping the Flying Star's styling inline with the donor car, despite the significant changes to the bodywork. The oval rear light chrome bezels are a reference to Bentley fastback cars of the '50. The side view features a low roof, prominent quarter panel shoulders and wide wheel arches.

The challenge when designing the interior was to create an elegant space which would compliment the exterior while also providing the additional space and functionality vital for a larger estate car. For the first time ever in this class and size, the twin individual rear seats fold completely to create a flat loading surface more than 2m (6 feet) long with a 1200 litre capacity.

2014 Bentley Continental Flying Spur بنتلي

The 2014 Bentley Flying Spur is a powerful totem for the British automaker. It's the entree into a swanky world of luxury and performance, the demarcation line between what it calls "premium" brands from true luxury vehicles. Buy one, and by their definition, you've arrived.
It's been a Continental for most its life, and with 20,000 sold since 2005, the Flying Spur has secured a niche. But the niche needs to grow, Bentley believes, and the sedan needs to move out from under the two-door's Continental GT's shadow. Hence the slight name change--there's no more "Continental" prefix in its name--and a stronger emphasis on a more emphatic look, as well as a suite of infotainment and powertrain enhancements to match its subtle changes in style.
The sleekly pared-down body has begun to distance itself from its companion two-door Continental GT. At the front end, the LED headlights are still ovals, but the larger ones are outboard--GTs move those inboard. The grille's set at a more vertical angle. The sheetmetal's formed with crisper and tighter creases, and Bentley's "B" is stamped on the fender vent. It's a clubby stance that relaxes as it moves from nose to tail, with a slight flare to the rear fenders and a gentle slope to the roofline. Square taillamps anchor the rear decklid, while oval tailpipes call back to the headlights. The interior remains a paradigm: it's functionally fit, fabulously finished, bespoke to a certain degree in its palette of trim and color choices. As the most powerful and fastest Bentley sedan ever, the Flying Spur hasn't lacked for attention under the metal, either. The powertrain is latest version of the 6.0-liter W-12 that executives say is the brand's hallmark--no matter what green regulations come down. Output is 616 horsepower and 590 pound-feet of torque. It's coupled to an eight-speed automatic and all-wheel drive with a variable torque split set at 40:60 from launch, but capable of shifting to 65 percent front or 85 percent rear as traction needs arise. Bentley quotes a 0-60 mph times of 4.3 seconds, and an astonishing top speed of 200 mph--in a car that weighs almost 5,500 pounds. It reels off whiplashes of power, controlled deftly by a paddle-shifted eight-speed automatic that merits wheel-mounted, heavy-gauge paddles--not the flimsy ones it's given. The new transmission and the use of more aluminum has improved gas mileage to 12 miles per gallon city, 20 miles per gallon highway, or 15 mpg combined.
The Flying Spur sells best in the United States, but since China is becoming a critical outlet, engineers have tailored the ride with both sets of driving tastes in mind--with more ride compliance from taller tire sidewalls and vertical shock layout for chauffered passengers, and with standard 19-inch and available 21-inch wheels and tires for enthusiastic drivers. Adjustable electronic dampers are able to lower the Spur's ride height for better stability and ride control as it approaches its speed limits. Revamped exhaust tuning lowers internal noise levels by 12 decibels. Light, natural steering feel complements the early-warning traction signals built into grippy Pirelli P-Zero tires; the Spur's more than willing to dive into tight corners, and setting its adaptive dampers to Sport gives it the lateral confidence to back up its promise, though it's less compliant when the road unkinks.
Where the Flying Spur turns on the executive levels of charm is inside. Quiet and tastefully rendered, the Flying Spur's cabin is filled with muted details, and studded with "B" logos, all framing a large LCD screen for infotainment functions that can be controlled by front-seat and by back-seat passengers via remote control. The remote also governs the twin 10-inch flat screens embedded in the front-seat headrests for those rear passengers--offering them in-car Internet and wireless connectivity and entertainment.
The cabin can be trimmed out as a four-seater with 14-way power adjustment and memory, heating and ventilation at all seating positions, or with a "plus-one" middle seat without those added controls. Some 17 interior leather colors and seven wood trims are offered, and 17 stitching colors--a palette that runs from sober grey to magnificent damson. A Mulliner Driving Specification adds the best flourishes: diamond-quilted seats, drilled alloy foot pedals, a knurled sports shift lever, jeweled filler cap, and 21-inch two-piece alloy wheels wrap up the package. An optional Naim 1,100-watt audio system is available.
Prices start from $200,500 for the five-seat Flying Spur, or $211,430 for the Mulliner, not including a stiff $2,725 destination charge.
