2013 McLaren P1 Extreme Heat Test

The testing programme for the McLaren P1™ has continued at a relentless pace throughout the summer, and in the latest short film from McLaren Automotive, the production-intent McLaren P1™ is shown testing in some of the harshest and most challenging conditions. With first deliveries scheduled in the coming weeks, the development team have been pushing the limits of the car to further extremes across North America, in some of the hottest and most arid conditions on the planet.

Finished all in Carbon Black, the sleek and menacing-looking McLaren P1™ is captured on the road undisguised for the first time, working through a number of final durability tests before the first of the limited run of 375 models is delivered to customers. The extreme temperature testing saw the McLaren P1™ pushed to the limits, experiencing heat in excess of 52°C / 126°F through Arizona, California and Nevada, as the western coast of America experienced some of the hottest temperatures on record.
The McLaren P1™ is the culmination of 50 years of race-winning technology and expertise, and is proudly described as ‘everything the company has ever done’. From the outset, the goal for the McLaren P1™ was clear: to be the best driver’s car on road and track. For this reason, the hot weather testing programme has not been confined only to the challenging road surfaces of America’s west coast, as the team push the boundaries of all systems and components on track in blistering heat.
Throughout the hot weather testing phase, and the development programme as a whole, McLaren Automotive has worked closely with its technical partners to develop and engineer bespoke products and solutions for a car that challenges what has been produced previously, redefining the boundaries for high performance cars. Through close collaboration with Akebono and Pirelli, the levels of performance and capabilities of the McLaren P1™ are optimised. The bespoke braking system and tyres are among the most advanced of any road car ever produced.

September is the 50th anniversary of McLaren, and will see the first deliveries of the McLaren P1™ commencing in the coming weeks as celebrations continue.

This final extreme test can be viewed and embedded at the official McLaren Automotive YouTube channel –http://youtu.be/yV2pEXK_zIM.

2013 Vorsteiner McLaren MP4-VX

Vorsteiner’s latest release of the striking McLaren MP4-VX marks our entry into the revered McLaren tuning world with their new clay modeling and 3D digital rendering program.

In a religious effort to stay true to the McLaren brand, the designers kept as many of the existing MP4 body lines intact as possible while enhancing the original design to an edgier and more aggressive form. The designers also took into account everyday driveability and functionality with each body part and made great effort to maximize ground clearance while improving overall aerodynamics and appearance.

The MP4-VX program also features our latest in one-piece aluminum forged wheel technology. The wheels were engineered to be specifically load rated for the weight of this McLaren so that weight savings could be maximized during the CNC milling process without any compromises in safety. The new wheels are 20x9J and 21x12J in size with 245/25/20 and 325/30/21 tire dimensions to keep the car well planted around corners.

The MP4-VX program is composed of:

• Carbon Fiber Front Bumper with dual air duct system and side ventilation louvers
• Carbon Fiber Add-On Front Spoiler
• Carbon Fiber Rear Bumper with dual ventilation louvers & central vent opening
• Carbon Fiber Rear Diffuser with integrated Dual Diffuser Tunnels
• 4 Piece Carbon Fiber Side Skirt blade with floating front fin element

Starting at the front, the McLaren MP4-VX showcases a completely redesigned nose made entirely out of the latest dry carbon fiber pre-preg autoclave technology. This new front end consists of a full replacement bumper cover with features such as a completely redesigned air ducting system, side vent elements and a separate front spoiler that aids in increasing front end downforce. The bumpers, like all Vorsteiner original products, utilize existing factory mounting hardware and each piece is 100% reversible if the vehicle ever needs to be returned back to its stock form.

The most visually striking component of the MP4-VX kit is undoubtedly the replacement carbon fiber rear bumper cover and rear diffuser element. The optical carbon fiber rear bumper also features two ventilation louvers on the side and one in the center to assist with heat dissipation from the engine and exhaust. The new carbon and kevlar reinforced composite rear diffuser features race inspired tunnels to further improve airflow and keep the rear end planted against the road surface with larger mesh perimeter opening to further assist in cooling the engine temperature.

Lastly, the vehicle receives improved airflow dynamics with our four-piece carbon fiber side blade elements, giving the vehicle a lower and more aggressive stance while improving downforce at high speeds.

Light Graffiti Cars: F1 Edition

The Light Graffiti Cars project, which last time around involved supercars being rendered in light at famous London landmarks, has now moved into the world of Formula 1. To coincide with the 2011 British Grand Prix, the Light Graffiti Cars team (comprising of media entrepreneur and Fotorater.com founder Marc Cameron and photographer Mark Brown), decided to create their trademark automotive art using the iconic Silverstone circuit as a backdrop.

The Light Graffiti Cars F1 special includes cars from Red Bull, Mclaren, Ferrari, Virgin, Force India and Lotus.
Marc Cameron, one of the co-creators of Light Graffiti Cars, said of the project: “The British Grand Prix is the world’s greatest racing contest, so it was a natural choice for the next stage of the Light Graffiti Cars to be affiliated with this stellar occasion. Associating the Light Graffiti Cars with iconic London landmarks proved a real success for us, but to actually take them out on one of the world’s greatest tracks was a dream come true for both Mark and I.”

1996 McLaren F1 GTR

For 1996 the F1 GTR was reduced to 600 hp by handicap rules enforced by the GT Racing Series. To compensate McLaren improved the aerodynamics of the car by using a larger rear wing. The weight of the car was also reduced. The 1996 F1 GTR finished a respectable 4th overall at the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

2012 Mansory McLaren MP4-12c

Deeply rooted in the MANSORY philosophy is the motto of always supplying prized automobile possessions. With the customised McLaren MP4-12C, the luxury manufacturer from the Bavarian town of Brand has once again succeeded in delivering another such highlight, just in time for the Geneva Motor Show 2012.
In particular the body package makes it clear that MANSORY wanted to differentiate itself significantly from the series vehicle. Besides design elements such as the ultralight bonnet with exposed carbon-fibre sections or the proprietary daytime driving lights, a number of targeted measures deliver a boost in aerodynamics.
Be it the roof, the front or rear apron, the mirror housing, or the wings, which widen the vehicle by 60 millimetres, all components are made of carbon fibre and hardened in the autoclave under high pressure and temperature. This high-tech process brings some impressive benefits: Both the acceleration values and the braking distance and fuel consumption are improved by the reduction of the vehicle's weight. Furthermore, the newly designed side sill set steadies the airflow between the two axles. A wing profile, in combination with the diffuser, delivers greater contact pressure on the rear axle.
The improved agility and handling that this delivers provides scope for increased performance. Here, too, MANSORY applies its considerable expertise. MANSORY offers the centrepiece of its customisation programme with a powerful performance enhancement. The upgrade includes a high-performance exhaust system, a new engine-management system and a sports air filter with increased air throughflow. The combination of these components results in a power of ca. 670 PS / 493 kW at 7,100 rpm (series: 608 PS / 447 kW at 7,000 rpm). At the same time, the maximum torque climbs to an imposing 675 Nm, which is available in the range 3,000 to 6,500 rpm (series: 600 Nm at 3,000 – 6,500). After modification, the top speed is 353 km/h.
In line with the McLaren's dynamic new presence, MANSORY fits the two-seater with striking light-metal wheels. Manufactured using forging technology, these wheels are ultralight and especially robust. On the front axle, the selected wheel-tyre combination is 9.0Jx20-inch with tyres of the size 245/30ZR20. At the rear, 11Jx21-inch rims are paired with 305/25ZR21 tyres.
The finest materials are used in the interior, giving occupants a feeling of the utmost comfort. The leather of the MANSORY's interior is treated by master craftsmen and is both especially hardwearing and extraordinarily soft. Only flawless natural hides are fitted in the interiors and stitched with contrasting thread by the in-house saddlery. The newly designed airbag sports steering wheel, the aluminium pedals and the real carbon-fibre elements complete the exquisite overall feel in the McLaren MP4-12C. MANSORY achieves the perfect symbiosis of sports functionality and luxurious ambience.
MANSORY Design & Holding GmbH offers only its in-house developed tuning accessories. The company does not offer its own make as "complete" vehicle, neither does the company deal with such type of vehicles.

Gemballa-tuned McLaren 12C Spider

While the 2013 Geneva Motor Show’s main attractions will most certainly be the selection of futuristic concept cars and all-new production cars, there will also be some delicious-looking modified cars on display. On of them will be this, the Gemballa GT Spider, which is quite obviously based on a McLaren 12C Spider.
Gemballa’s real bread and butter comes from modifying Porsche models. In fact, throughout their 32 history Gemballa have only tinkered with a handful of models from other manufacturers. McLaren have now joined that exclusive club.

Gemballa’s upgrades are unfortunately limited to cosmetic stuff. The most significant of which is the new carbon fiber bodywork, which consists of a new front bumper, side skirts and rear bumper. 20-inch front wheels and 21-inch rear wheels round out the exterior modifications.
For the interior Gemballa offer a range customisation options including leather upholstery in a range of different colors, and a color coded instrument panel and gauges.
The price for Gemballa’s services? 47,166 EUR – that works out at around $62,500. And that’s a lot of money for something that doesn’t get from A to B any quicker than the standard car.

2015 McLaren P1

McLaren gave the world automotive perfection back in 1992 with the now iconic F1 supercar, still the fastest naturally aspirated road car in the world. Since production ended in 1998, everyone has been waiting for the British carmaker's follow up. They put their name on 2003's Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren, but that car didn't really count. Likewise, the MP4-12C that they introduced in 2011, while still a phenomenal car and one that McLaren did by themselves, just isn't the same kind of revolutionary that the F1 was. This is why anticipation over McLaren's next no-holds-barred, super expensive machine has been so frantic. The new P1 (short for Project 1, apparently) is an answer to the prayers of car people everywhere and supposedly an example of what the engineers at McLaren can do when they pull out all the stops.
McLaren only plans to make 375 P1s. That will make it more common than the old F1, but still a rare bird indeed that will probably only be seen at relatively exclusive events. But if a P1 does ever happen to be around, absolutely no one will miss it. To say the styling is radical would be an understatement. While there are some neat subtleties such as the headlights that are shaped like McLaren emblems and the racy intake in the roof, the shape is completely purposeful. The car is supposed to make around 1,3000 pounds of downforce at 125 miles per hour, a figure once reserved for things like Formula One cars. Power comes from a reworked version of the mid-mounted V-8 in the MP4-12C that, combined with an electric motor, boosts power to an insane 903. 0 to 60 should be well under three seconds, and top speed with a limiter and all that downforce is 217 miles per hour.  The interior of the new P1 is strikingly similar to that of McLaren's other, cheaper model, albeit with more carbon fiber. This is probably a bit disappointing to people who were hoping for an interior more like the F1. That car's central driving position, with one seat behind each shoulder of the driver, was yet another characteristic that set the old F1 apart and would have made a great addition to the P1. But, alas, they decided to go with a more conventional two-seat layout. That is admittedly a small gripe, as the rest of the car is breathtaking and sure to be a benchmark, just like its predecessor.
There is one problem, though, and that is another new hypercar called the LaFerrari. The McLaren P1 is no doubt a worthy successor the F1 and a forward thinking machine that will help advance how performance cars are built, but the Ferrari is right there with it. Both are hybrids with over 900 combined horsepower, both were styled with obsession over aerodynamics, and both have around the same one and a quarter million-dollar price tag. The Ferrari is clearly a direct competitor, something the F1 just never had. It remains to be seen which machine will be more celebrated, but the P1 has bigger shoes to fill.

2013 Gemballa McLaren 12C GT Spider مكلارين

The GEMBALLA GT Spider based on the McLaren 12C Spider

With its roof open to the heavens, the McLaren 12C Spider promises an even more visceral driving experience than its Coupé sister. Sharing the same ultra stiff carbon-fibre tub means the Spider has the same incredible handling with only a minimal weight increase. Now, owners of this 625hp British supercar looking for an even more individual twist, can order the attractive GEMBALLA GT package for the 12C Spider, which made its world debut at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show.
Highlights of the GEMBALLA GT Spider are its carbon-fibre Aero Kit, interior re-trim in the finest leathers, and the brand new GForged-one lightweight alloy wheels.
A pioneer of personalisation for Porsche cars, GEMBALLA now offers a comprehensive programme for the McLaren family, too. The symbiosis that brings these three great marques together is elegant design, high-performance and the use of lightweight material technologies.
Thus, GEMBALLA's German designed and manufactured aerodynamic components eschew even the industry-standard use of PU RIM or GRP, making the leap to carbon-fibre for the ultimate in strength and lightness. GEMBALLA's aerodynamic package consists of a new front bumper/spoiler, side skirts and rear valence, which perfectly line up with the OE bodywork using the factory mounting points. The aero package is easy to install and can be shipped worldwide.
Another highlight for the GEMBALLA GT Spider are the new GForged-one ultra-light, forged alloy wheels, in 20 and 21-inch diameters for the front and rear axles respectively. Although these sophisticated looking wheels are an inch larger in diameter than their factory counterparts, their low weight ensures that the unsprung weight of the vehicle remains unchanged. The GForged-one wheels come in "Black Magic" or "Gunmetal", with the option of a gloss turned "diamond cut" finish for their spokes.
GEMBALLA is world renowned for the design and quality of its bespoke interior trim. This work is carried out by master upholsterers to the client's wishes, using only the finest materials. GT Spider customers can choose among the finest leathers and materials to build their individual interior.
