2015 Lotus Eterne

Enter the Eterne, the four door super saloon from Lotus. If the Elite is elegance incarnate then the Eterne is elegance redefined.

The Eterne is a true four door, four seater sports GT. Its the ultimate expression of refined style, sophistication and grace. But wait. An elegant, graceful sports car? Surely not.
A sports car by definition cant be graceful. Powerful, exciting, aggressive yes, but not graceful. Yet here it is, the ultimate paradox - the Eterne. Power and grace, performance and elegance, beauty and strength all in one stunning package.

With a 5.0 litre pressure charged V8 engine delivering up to 620 PS the Eterne is aiming for best in class performance and efficiency.

In keeping with the rest of the new line-up, the Eterne will benefit from hybrid technology.
Dany Bahar, Chief Executive Officer of Group Lotus, said: The Eterne is sensational to look and as with the rest of the range it also over delivers in all other aspects as well. Similar to the Elite, its a car of perfect contradictions, its compact yet spacious, high performing yet low emitting, relative lightweight yet still reassuringly solid.

We truly believe that there is a market for the Eterne, there is nothing else like it out there both in terms of design, capacity and performance. The biggest difference between the Eterne and its class competitors is that its not an evolution of an existing two-door model, its a deliberate and considered stand-alone creation. Its the ultimate four door sports car.

Sometimes there are no rules to be broken, so it is time to define them instead.

2015 Lotus Elise

Oh yes, here it is! Theres still room for the Elise at Lotus but what a difference a decade or two makes. The Elise due for release in 2015 is a sexy, agile beast of a car. Finally the Elise comes of age.

Aesthetically its definitely pleasing to the eye, its bold directional body gives you subtle hints of the Elise of old so it still seems a touch familiar but at the same time, it couldnt be more different.

Perhaps a small example of how the car has changed would help. Aside from strong graphic styling, the practicality of the car has had a major overhaul too with sizeable improvements made to the ingress and egress in simple terms, no more acrobatics but still all the fun you expect from the Elise.

Dany Bahar, Chief Executive Officer of Group Lotus, said: We worked very hard on getting the Elise 2015 exactly right, its our entry level car so it needs to give a proper introduction to the Lotus driving experience.

The Elise you can buy now is still a fantastic car, make no mistake, Lotus remain very proud of it, but this is a natural progression for us moving forward. The Elise 2015 will also be class-leading in terms of performance and efficiency but it will do more than that it will take the Elise model to the forefront of its class across the board.

The design of the Elise 2015 is perfect for the target market, its young, strong, confident, verging on ruthless, it mirrors the engineering and technology. Its the next generation Elise for a new generation of Lotus drivers.

Fear not though, despite the dramatic upgrades the Elise 2015 has lost none of the cheeky charm that made the two-seater sports car famous, it still retains performance through lightweight and handles like a dream albeit a quite aggressive and tension filled dream. With a 2.0 litre inline 4 pressure charged engine delivering up to 320 PS, the Elise 2015 should reach 0-100kph in under 4.5 seconds.

The Elise 2015, proving great things come to those who wait.

Light Graffiti Cars: F1 Edition

The Light Graffiti Cars project, which last time around involved supercars being rendered in light at famous London landmarks, has now moved into the world of Formula 1. To coincide with the 2011 British Grand Prix, the Light Graffiti Cars team (comprising of media entrepreneur and Fotorater.com founder Marc Cameron and photographer Mark Brown), decided to create their trademark automotive art using the iconic Silverstone circuit as a backdrop.

The Light Graffiti Cars F1 special includes cars from Red Bull, Mclaren, Ferrari, Virgin, Force India and Lotus.
Marc Cameron, one of the co-creators of Light Graffiti Cars, said of the project: “The British Grand Prix is the world’s greatest racing contest, so it was a natural choice for the next stage of the Light Graffiti Cars to be affiliated with this stellar occasion. Associating the Light Graffiti Cars with iconic London landmarks proved a real success for us, but to actually take them out on one of the world’s greatest tracks was a dream come true for both Mark and I.”

Lotus Elise Type 49

Very few racing cars are as famous or as celebrated as the Lotus Type 49 Formula One car. Its racing pedigree was instantly proven, winning its debut Grand Prix in the hands of Jim Clark. This was not the only reason for its fame; it was the car developed alongside the V8 Cosworth Ford DFV engine that dominated Formula One for a full decade. The Type 49 was also the first Formula One car to use the engine as an integral stressed part of the chassis. This combination of car and engine would bring major Grand Prix successes for Jim Clark, Graham Hill, Jo Siffert and Jochen Rindt.
The Elise Type 49, as part of the Elise Heritage range, not only shares the distinctive red, white and gold livery of the Type 49 Formula One car, but also many of the strengths that made the Type 49 Formula One car so successful; Lightweight aluminium chassis, GRP body, Lotus world beating ride and handling and of course the principles of performance through lightweight.
The racing heritage look is continued with gold coloured six spoke wheels. The interior stays true to its racing theme with perforated red leather seats and steering wheel centre, black Alcantara door panels, and the distinctive red Heritage laurels embroidered onto the headrest of each seat. Making the Elise Type 49 even more unique is a Heritage Type 49 ID plate confirming its limited edition status. Only 100 of these cars will be produced for the UK market. The car is also supplied with both Hard Top and Soft Top as standard.
UK General Manager Ansar Ali explains "The essence of Lotus is high technology engineering, sports cars and motor racing. I believe that the Elise Type 49, the third of our range of heritage models, bring all three elements together. With its extruded aluminium chassis, award winning styling and legendary ride and handling characteristics, the Elise Type 49 is a future classic."

2011 Lotus Renault GP Car

Group Lotus plc and Genii Capital are pleased to announce a partnership which will see the Renault F1 Team renamed as Lotus Renault GP from the start of the 2011 racing season onwards. The association heralds the return of a highly successful Formula 1 association between Lotus and Renault from the 1980s. Lotus racing pedigree and heritage coupled with Renaults technology in Formula 1 will set the united team on a path to future success.

Group Lotus plc will acquire a major equity stake in the team from Genii Capital. The transaction represents a partnership between Group Lotus and Genii Capital and signifies the beginning of a more comprehensive strategic alliance between the two organisations.

The partnership between Lotus and Genii brings the ability to quickly incorporate new technologies from F1 cars into Lotus road cars including hybrid technology, Kinetic Energy Recovery Systems (KERS), aero advancements and lightweight materials. Genii, an investment holding company with a portfolio of automotive technologies, bring non-F1 technologies such as lightweight braking systems, variable compression engine technology and on board software systems to the
partnership.

Group Lotus CEO Dany Bahar said: I can think of no better platform for automotive brand communications than motorsport and F1. Were well aware that there has been a lot of controversy around the usage of our brand in F1 and Im delighted to be able to formally clarify our position: We are Lotus, and we are back.

Dato' Sri Mohd Nadzmi Mohd Salleh, Chairman of Proton, Lotus majority shareholder, said: We know that Group Lotus has much to offer Formula 1 and vice versa. After careful consideration, we believe this arrangement will be fruitful, both from a commercial and marketing point of view.

Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, Proton advisor and former Prime Minister of Malaysia, said: This is an exciting development which delivers strategic benefits to both Group Lotus and Proton. I fully support the partnership.

Carlos Ghosn, Chairman and CEO of Renault, commented: This multi-partner alliance will bring a new dynamic to the team and enable it to compete with the sports best from next season.

In addition to this, Genii is also offering Proton the ability to leverage on its existing business relationships in Russia and other parts of the world, as a means to expand Proton's global reach. Through Genii, Proton can also potentially access advanced automotive technologies by virtue of Geniis association with Mangrove, a venture capital group.

Gerard Lopez, founding partner of Genii Capital, said: For Group Lotus, access to Formula 1 opens up new marketing opportunities and a major platform for business exchanges and development. In this regard, Genii Capital possesses shareholdings in, and direct access to, cutting edge companies in the automotive industry.
